Be a real American and go to a Rodeo on the 4th of July

Choteau, Montana 4th of July Celebration
4th of July Celebration, sponsored by the Choteau Chamber of Commerce and the City of Choteau, begins on July 3rd, including the Choteau Jaycees Art on the Green, featuring local crafters, artists and vendors displaying their merchandise in the City Park from 10:00am to 4:00pm. The Choteau Soroptimists Duck Races and Kids Carnival also take place in the City Park from 11:00am to 4:00pm. Games for kids, including the popular dunking booth, start at 11:00am and the Duck Races start at 1:00pm. Later in the evening is the Choteau Jaycees outdoor concert at the rodeo grounds. The Jaycees provide wonderful entertainment suitable for all ages. Concessions and beer are available.

July 4th starts at 10:00am with a parade including cars, antique tractors, kids entries and prizes, followed with a 11:00am steak fry, 2:00pm rodeo and evening street dances.

Steak Fry - serving fondue steak and roast beef, homemade potato chips, beans, salad and ice cream served from 11:00am - 1:00pm at the Choteau Pavilion.

American Legion Rodeo starts at 2:00pm at the Choteau Rodeo Grounds, featuring many area cowboys and cowgirls.

Fireworks start at dusk and they will be set off from Airport Hill. Our fabulous show is sponsored by the residents of Choteau.

    2008 Schedule of Events for the Choteau 4th of July Celebration

    July 3rd:

    • 6:30 p.m. — Enjoy a concert at the rodeo grounds put on by the Choteau Jaycees. This years concert will feature Montana Native — Tim Montana coming from Nashville, TN with local opening act Cold Hard Cash. The concert begins at 6:30 p.m. This is a community fundraising project and all proceeds go back into the community of Choteau. His music is heard on this site!

    Immediately following concert: Meet your friends downtown at the American Legion Club street dance.

    July 4th Festivities:
    • 6:30 am to 8 a.m. — Registration for race
    • 8 a.m. — Fun Run: The 5K race
    • 8:30 a.m. — Fun Run: The one mile fun walk/run
    Registration is now open for the “Let Freedom Run” Fourth of July Fun Run, which will feature a one-mile run/walk and a 5K run. Registraton forms are available at Main Street Express, Wings and Wild Things and the Choteau Acantha. Preregistraton is $13 per person (includes a T-shirt). A family rate of $27 includes three T-shirts. Children 12 and younger run free. Extra T-shirts cost $9 each. Late registration will be held at the Choteau City Park (northwest corner) from 6:45 a.m. to 7:45 a.m. the day of event. The cost increases to $16 per person and $33 per family. The event is open to runners and walkers of all ages. Strollers are welcome and runners can bring their dogs as long as they are on leashes and do not interfere with other runners or walkers. Both routes will be marked with sidewalk paint and signs. A water stop will be set up outside the Elk Country Grill. The top finishers will receive prizes.     • 9 a.m. — Line-up and judging for parade begins.
    • 10 a.m. — Themed Parade “Choteau — We Dig It!”: includes cars, antique tractors, kid’s entries, candy throwing and prizes. Please NO PARKING from Catholic Church to courthouse, breathe the fresh air, get some exercise or conserve gas . Thanks!

    • 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. — Head over to the Pavilion (near the City Park) for the Chamber of Commerce’s Steak Fry. The Steak Fry features ‘pitchfork fondue’ steak and hot dogs, along with homemade (fried) potato chips, beans, salad, and brownies or cookies. $12 for Fondue Steak Meal, $7 for hot dog meal.

    • 2 p.m.— Rodeo - The 63rd annual American Legion rodeo at the Choteau Rodeo Grounds. Tickets cost $15 for adult reserved, $12 for adult general
    admission, $3 for children’s general admission. Tickets go on Sale May 1st and to purchase tickets call the Choteau Trading Post at 406-466-5354.

    • Nightfall — Choteau Community Fireworks display.

    July 5th Festivities:

    • 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. — Stroll down to the City Park for the Jaycees’ Choteau Summer Festival featuring local crafters, artists and vendors displaying their merchandise. Click Here to Become a Vendor

    • Noon to 1 p.m. — Choteau Fire Department “Keg Hockey” tournament registration. Competition starts at 1 p.m. and will include an open event and a tournament in which teams of three vie to move an empty beer keg up and down the street behind the powerful jet of a fire hose. This is wet, splashy fun for the whole family.

    • 3 p.m. — Choteau High School Class of 1998 10 Year Reunion, Choteau Country Club, no invitations will be sent.

    • 5 p.m. gates open— Boxing at 6 p.m. — 3rd Annual Choteau Boxing Smoker at the rodeo grounds. Concessions. Tickets sold in advance (available June 16, 2008) and at the gate. www.frontrangefights.com
