La Notte Bianca
The fifth edition of the Notte Bianca will be held on Saturday September 8th, an event that Italy’s capital can no longer do without. Since 2003 four editions of the great collective event have been organised with thousands of people taking part in it every year. Romans, Italian and foreign tourists of all ages have shared the emotions of this unique experience with enthusiasm and curiosity, allowing the serene production of a myriad of activities and thereby decreeing their success.
And so once again for the year 2007 the Notte Bianca returns, with its energy, filling the streets, the squares, the monuments, museums, private art galleries, shops, the theatres as well as places of art and culture in the entire city, from the centre to the suburbs.
More than ever, on this occasion Rome confirms its status as an active city, one with no barriers, an open city capable of modifying its horizons always proposing new ones.
The Notte Bianca is a great event, always characterised by multidisciplinary characteristics, answering the needs of an urban community wishing to compete with its own heritage, its identity, its dreams, returning to culture the profound value it should have as a system of relationships between individuals, as a network capable of influencing even the quality of life.
This year the Notte Bianca will be a precious opportunity for getting to know other populations and establishing a dialogue with them.
Walking the streets of Rome will be like walking the streets of the world, on a journey of discovery to near and distant countries, to the sounds and the cultures of the world, with performances and artists from the five continents and Italian productions that have adopted cultural contamination as their fundamental theme.
The world in one night is the theme for the 2007 edition of La Notte Bianca
For Saturday September 8th the programme includes performances, concerts, plays, dance shows, magic and circus arts, contemporary art installations, fireworks, even a concert of church bells, all characterised by tradition and experimentation, merging together for one night an ensemble of artistic capabilities, cultural scope, knowledge, techniques and ways of expressing art and entertainment, all very different one from the other, and that is both multifaceted and harmonious.
The Notte Bianca is an event created and produced by the Municipality of Rome and the city’s Chamber of Commerce in cooperation with the Ministry for Cultural Heritage and Activity, the Latium Region and the Municipality of Rome’s Treasury Banks - the Banca Nazionale del Lavoro, the Banca di Roma, and the Monte dei Paschi di Siena.
The organisation and production of the Notte Bianca are by Zètema Progetto Cultura
