Atlas Oyster Bar - Pensacola, Florida

Best Oyster Bar Pensacola
Guest Author: Jennifer Close
When I moved to the South, I had no idea what grits were. It took me several years to actually try grits and I was not thrilled with them. That was until I happened along the Grits a Ya Ya at the Atlas Oyster House in Pensacola, Florida. Located on the water, the view of the sun setting while you enjoy a glass of wine or specialty martini is absolutely gorgeous. Much of the seafood comes straight off the boat and into the kitchen. They have a kid’s menu featuring items from chicken tenders and mac & cheese to the fish of the day. Well known for their oysters, sushi and daily catch, I almost always order the Thai Shrimp Lettuce Wraps with its sweet chili soy sauce and the Grits a Ya Ya. These aren’t your regular southern grits…these grits are world famous. Shrimp straight from the gulf, bacon, spinach and garlic are poured over a huge plate of smoked Gouda cheese grits. If that sounds like too much meal for you or if you are hesitant to order a 19 dollar plate of grits (worth every penny), then make sure you order the Atlas side of Gouda cheese grits. For an added bonus, Atlas and the sister restaurant next door, The Fish House, offer live entertainment and specials throughout the week. Before you leave, make sure you indulge yourself with the Vanilla Bean Crème Brulee!
