It takes you just 32 minutes by Cable car to reach the summit of the 2970 m high Schilthorn. Enjoy the beautiful view of Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau
(UNESCO World Heritage) and on more than 200 other summits. Have a rich breakfast or a delicious meal at the world’s first revolving restaurant, Piz Gloria and follow the tracks of James Bond: in the Touristorama we will show you extracts of the 007 Movie “On Her Majesty’s Secret Service”, which was filmed at the Schilthorn. Or simply enjoy the spectacular view from our big terrace!
You won’t have to wait before chairlifts! Our new chairlift Riggli-Birg will take you to the top of our slopes within a few minutes. More than 54 km of well-prepared slopes are waiting for you. Why don’t you try out our new mogul slope? But there are also a lot of possibilities for all winter hikers, cross-country skiers and sledding fans!

I visited the Schilthorn with my family when we were touring Switzerland in July of 2008. The trip there was the apex of our visit to Switzerland, and it was by far the highlight of our vacation. We enjoyed the trip up there as much as the view at the top. The cable car ride was exciting, and the pastoral scenery including cows fitted with the large Swiss bells was a sight to behold. I would not hesitate to make the trip a second time as I consider it one of the nicest places I have visited in my lifetime.
I made this trip in 1971 and again in 2004.Next time hop off the train at Lauterbrunnen and take the funicular up to Grutschalp then the train to Murren. I’m sure you’ll enjoy the additional views.
I’ve been to the Schilthorn three tmes and each time it just gets better and better. Once you leave on the right hand side as you drive away there are a set of waterfalls inside the mountain with all the glacier melt from the three main peaks. These too are well worth a visit, there is a trip up to the top and then you walk down. It really brings home how much wter is contained within these glaciers.
