Symphony of the Sierra
Classical Music Calaveras
The Symphony of the Sierra, with support from the Columbia Junior College serves as the community orchestra of Calaveras and Tuolumne counties. The conductor is Mr. Jeffery Johnson and the symphony is comprised of many talented, local musicians. The symphony was originally established in 1967 by Dario Cassina, as a venue for local musicians to play and perform together.
Join us for a concert presented by Ironstone Vineyards and Columbia Junior College. The concert will feature a solo by pianist Helen Kimzey Plowman, performing George Gershwin’s “Rhapsody in Blue” along with other classical selections. The event begins at 3:00pm and will be held in the Ironstone Vineyards Alhambra Music Room. For reservations please call 209-728-1251, extension 11. The event is $5 per person and all proceeds will benefit the Symphony of the Sierra.
Usually this event coincides with the bloom of the daffodils at Ironstone Vineyards. With this year’s wacky weather, I am not sure if it will.
