Restaurant Casablanca - Redwood City, California

Fantastic Morrocan Restaurant
I love restaurants, particularly local neighborhood places run with lots of love. When I find a place I like, I become a diehard fan, and part of the family.
In the case of Restaurant Casablanca in Redwood City, CA, I have to confess right off the bat that I am a loyal and regular customer. But I wouldn’t have kept coming back if I had not loved the food, the atmosphere - and on weekends, the terrific belly dancing. Before you assume that Moroccan food can be lumped in with so-called ‘Middle Eastern’ cuisine - think again. True, it does have common ingredients, including chicken, lamb, chickpeas, eggplant, rice, yogurt, etc. It is the fragrant combination of spices and flavors like cinnamon, cloves, cumin, dates, olives and lemons, and the national dish, couscous that makes Casablanca unique. Come in for the sweet-but-savory chicken bastilla (chicken combined with almonds and spices and wrapped in filo pastry), the hearty and satisfying harira soup (eaten with lemon wedges and dates on the side), the chicken, lamb and ground beef kofta kabobs and the tagines - stews cooked in the cone-shaped vessels that the dishes are named for. Local and Moroccan beer and a variety of wines round out the main courses. And if you have room for dessert, chef/owner Amina Rose makes her own Moroccan pastries. At 8pm Fridays and Saturdays, there is live entertainment and belly dancing. Participation is definitely encouraged. Although there is only one belly dancing show per night, the music and dancing lasts well into the evening. Hookahs are also enjoyed outdoors. I hope to see you there.

Been there. Ate. Danced. Loved it.
Sounds darn good to me! The next time I’m on the lower end of the penninsula, I’ll have to make it a point to eat dinner there.
I loved this place. You should take family and friends along too. I loved the menu too. Of I visited the restaurant after reading this post.
Thanks a lot.
