Perfect Weekend - Pebble Beach, California
Pebble Beach & Carmel Weekend Getaway
We headed to Pebble Beach for serious good times. Except for the fact that I got a flat tire on the way and had to buy new tires, the weekend was fabulous. Minnesota Stacy’s in-laws rented a house with the 14th tee of Pebble Beach as their backyard overlooking the golf course and the Pacific Ocean. It was highly swank. We had pizza at the house, then Saturday night headed to my favorite spot in the world, the Mission Ranch Piano Bar. Lots of singing ensued. A terrific singer, Joe Gransden, sang and played his trumpet to Fly Me to the Moon. A few minutes later, Clint Eastwood came in and joined him, hamming it up and pretending to play the trumpet.
Sunday, Susan joined us on Doug Lumsden’s Monterey Movie Tour which was very fun. He has the whole thing timed perfectly so he can say ‘Marilyn Monroe comes out that door, walks across the street and has a fight with her boyfriend on that corner’ and then shows you the scene. Highlights of Play Misty for Me, Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home, A Summer Place, Julie and From Here to Eternity among others. That night we went to the Inn at Spanish Bay to see the bagpiper say farewell to the day and had the most delicious meal at Roy’s — a kobe beef sushi roll - yummy! Later that night we were back to the Mission Ranch for more singing.
Monday, after a delicious lunch of oysters on the deck overlooking the 18th, I headed home.
